ARTIST IN RESIDENCY PROGRAM
The “New Energy Artists Residency” (or NEAR) Program is hosted in Norfolk’s newly minted NEON District (http://neonnfk.com/). The Chrysler Museum Glass Studio is partnering with the Rutter Family Art Foundation and Glass Wheel Studio to give an individual artist time and space to create and exhibit new exploratory work. These three organizations are instrumental in the NEON (New Energy of Norfolk) District, and we are excited to collaborate in bringing emerging and experimental practices of glass and new media to our region. For this inaugural program, the Selection Committee, selected Sarah Blood to begin her residency and exhibit her work in September of 2016.
Applications for our next "New Energy Artists Residency" will be available online early 2017.
CURATORIAL FELLOWSHIP & EXHIBITION
Each year the Rutter Family Art Foundation sponsors a Curatorial Fellowship. Applications will be available in the fall and winners will be announced in January.
CALL FOR SECOND ANNUAL CURATORIAL FELLOWSHIP
Application Deadline January 15th 2017
The Rutter Family Art Foundation (RFAF) invites emerging curators and artists to apply for the Second Annual Curatorial Fellowship. The fellowship supports the mounting of an exhibition in the contemporary art space, Work|Release, located in the heart of Norfolk, VA’s NEON arts district. Work|Release functions as an immersive contemporary art exhibition and event space, designed to support artistic programming of all forms.
The 2017 RFAF Curatorial Fellow should be an individual or collective who is excited by the possibilities of creating a show that melds contemporary art within this alternative art space and encourages the inclusion of programming during the exhibition. The show will run for approximately two months during the summer of 2017.
